Department of Small and Local Business Development

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) supports the development, economic growth, and retention of District-based businesses, and promotes economic development throughout the District's commercial districts.

DSLBD envisions a business environment in which: DC businesses are connected in real-time with local, federal, and global business opportunities; businesses navigate government quickly, confidently, and effectively; and, every entrepreneur and business with a great idea and a great plan has the capital to make it happen.

Office of African American Affairs

The Mayor’s Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) serves as an advisor to the Mayor, advocating on behalf of the African American community in the District of Columbia. OAAA works to empower District residents through direct engagement with constituents and works to support residents by connecting them to government services.

The Commission on Fathers, Men, and Boys

The Commission on Fathers, Men, and Boys (CFMB) is a 12-member body formed by legislation and adopted by Mayor Muriel Bowser. CFMB advocates on behalf of fathers, men and boys in the District of Columbia through research and policy recommendations, acting as an advisory arm to the Mayor, DC Council, and the community on issues pertaining to the challenges facing this demographic. CFMB will also host public meetings, community forums, and conduct outreach on research projects as a means of gaining factual data to advise on public policy creation that makes a lasting impact.
